Hyderabad, Dec.2 (NSS): In a comprehensive presentation at Telangana Bhavan, former minister and BRS MLA T. Harish Rao meticulously detailed a series of alleged inconsistencies and unfulfilled promises by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. Utilizing a well-curated video compilation, Harish Rao aimed to shed light on what he perceives as the Chief Minister’s “double standards” on pivotal issues impacting the people of Telangana.
Key highlights from the presentation are: (Pre-elections) On Rythu Bandhu Scheme, Revanth Reddy criticized the Rythu Bandhu scheme for its limitations, questioning why it was restricted to two crops and not extended to a third. (Post-Election Actions): After assuming office, instead of expanding the scheme, the Chief Minister allegedly introduced complications, leading to delays and confusion among farmers. Harish Rao emphasized that under the previous administration, ₹72,000 crore was distributed seamlessly across 11 instalments, contrasting with the current government’s approach.
On Bathukamma saris distribution, the Chief Minister assured distribution of two high-quality saris to women during the Bathukamma festival, a significant cultural event in Telangana. But the government failed to deliver this promise and left many women without the assured festive attire, causing disappointment during the celebrations.
On Land Regularization Scheme (LRS), while in opposition, Revanth Reddy opposed the LRS, advocating free regularization without imposing financial burdens on the public. But, after assuming office, the administration imposed substantial charges under the LRS, aiming to collect approximately ₹15,000 crore, contradicting earlier assurances.
On unemployment and job creation, on the eve of elections, the Chief Minister pledged to create two lakh jobs within the first year of his tenure. But in reality, the government has not met this target, and the release of a “Jobless Calendar” has been criticized as deceptive. Additionally, competitive examinations have faced postponements, causing further frustration among job aspirants.
On Caste Survey, Revanth Reddy previously criticized comprehensive caste surveys conducted by the former government. But now, his administration is conducting a similar survey, leading to public confusion and raising questions about his consistency on the issue.
When in opposition, Revanth Reddy condemned the demolition of unauthorized structures, labelling such actions as wasteful. Presently, the Revanth Reddy government has initiated widespread demolitions, including homes of economically disadvantaged families, causing significant distress.
Revanth Reddy previously expressed support for police personnel and their families. Now, his administration has been accused of imposing hardships on police staff, including dismissals and oppressive measures, contradicting earlier support.
On Liquor Sales Policy, Revanth Reddy accused the previous administration of promoting excessive liquor consumption. But now, under his leadership, there has been an expansion of liquor sales, introduction of new brands, and setting revenue targets, prioritizing profits over public health.
On Kaleshwaram Project: The Chief Minister has made contradictory remarks about the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, both criticizing and benefiting from it. Harish Rao accused him of hypocrisy regarding the project’s implementation and benefits.
Revanth Reddy’s stance towards Congress leader Sonia Gandhi has varied, with instances of both reverence and opportunistic criticism, reflecting political expediency. While in opposition, Revanth Reddy condemned political defections and called for punitive actions against defectors. Currenly, his administration has welcomed defectors, contradicting his earlier stance on political loyalty and ethics.
Inclusion of Names on Plaques: Previously, Revanth Reddy opposed the inclusion of leaders’ names on inauguration plaques, advocating for a focus on positions rather than individuals. Now, under his leadership, plaques now prominently feature his name and photograph, indicating a shift from his earlier position.
Harish Rao highlighted how the government, despite its claims of justice and transparency, has overseen multiple encounters, raising questions about its commitment to human rights. Harish Rao concluded his presentation by urging the people of Telangana to remain vigilant. “Revanth Reddy’s one year in power has been a series of broken promises and blatant hypocrisy. Telangana deserves a leader who delivers on commitments, not one who thrives on contradictions. It’s time for the people to demand accountability,” he said.
The detailed video presentation offered a comprehensive critique of Revanth Reddy’s governance, aiming to expose his true face to the public. Harish Rao expressed confidence that the people of Telangana would no longer fall for such double standards and would hold the Chief Minister accountable for his actions.
