Harish slams govt for failure to waive crop loans of farmers

Yadagirigutta, Aug.22 (NSS): BRS party MLA Harish Rao today slammed the State government for failed to waive crop loans of farmers. He said not only farmers, but also the deities had been deceived by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy under the pretext of the crop loan waiver. “The Chief Minister stated that the loan waiver has been completed. But the ministers are speaking differently,” he said.

After visiting Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple here, Harish Rao spoke to the media along with the party leaders. Speaking on the occasion, he said Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy stated that 1.7 million more people need to be granted the loan waivers. He said another Minister Pongulati was claiming that the loan waiver was not yet complete. Rao said another ₹12,000 crore need to be allocated for the loan waiver scheme.

“Minister Tumala stated that ₹31,000 crore should be waived for 4.2 million farmers in the State. He mentioned that only ₹17,000 crore have been waived for 2.2 million people so far. According to Tumala’s calculations, waivers have been granted only to 2.2 million out of 4.2 million farmers. This means that so far, only 45% of farmers have received the loan waiver benefit. The remaining 54% of farmers are yet to receive the waiver money,” he said.

Harish Rao questioned as to who should resign according to the ministers’ calculations. He demanded that CM Revanth Reddy publicly apologize to the people of Telangana if he has any ethics or integrity. He suggested that Revanth Reddy should go to the deities on whom he placed bets and seek penance. Rao stated he had resigned from the ministerial and MLA positions for the sake of Telangana.

He mentioned that he prayed to Lord Yadadri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy to give him the strength to fight until all farmers receive the loan waiver benefit and crop bonuses. He also criticized that the CM had committed atrocities against women journalists in his hometown. He stated that they condemn the atrocities of the Revanth government. Rao said cases and threats cannot stop the farmers’ anger.

He also asked whether the farmers had right to express their grievances in a democracy as Revanth has been silencing them. He made it clear that they would continue to pursue the government until everyone received the  loan waiver benefit. He suggested that the police should not violate the law and should not harm the government.

MLC Deshapathi Srinivas, MLAs K.P. Vivekananda, Madhavaram Krishnarao, Kaleru Venkatesh, former MLAs Gongadi Sunitha, Budida Biksham and others accompanied Harish Rao. (
