Hyderabad, July 7 (NSS):Former minister Harish Rao today wrote an open letter to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and urged him to take steps for solving problems in the Education sector of the State.
In his letter, he claimed that former CM KCR, who took over as Chief Minister after the formation of Telangana, had taken several steps to strengthen the Education system of the government. He alleged that the Congress government, which has now come to power after KCR, had shown gross negligence towards the Education system. He also alleged that the Telangana Education system was suffering from poor facilities, lack of teachers, lack of textbooks, lack of clothes, shortage of drinking water and delay in payment of wages. He alleged that the rulers of the State government were giving priority only to political issues instead of focusing on the Education sector of the State.
“Within seven months of coming to power, nothing new has been done. The government has also failed to continue what the previous government was doing. Congress rule has become a curse for teachers, students and government schools. If the BRS government has launched a grand programme called ‘Mana Ooru – Mana Badi ‘ to develop the government schools, it is being neglected by the present government. In the schools, the students are being fed with chopped rice instead of fine rice,” he alleged. He claimed that even the bills of chicken eggs provided for the nutritious food of the students had not been paid.
“Instead of giving two pairs of school uniforms, the government is giving only one pair of clothes and washing its hands,” he alleged. He also alleged that the Congress government had also put on hold the ‘CM’s Breakfast’ programme launched by the previous government in 27,000 schools with the intention of ensuring that not a single student goes hungry. “Due to poor sanitation management, mosquitoes and flies are swarming in schools. As per the syllabus, the completion of the syllabus has become questionable as the teacher vacancies have not been filled. There is darkness due to non-payment of electricity bills. It is sad despite all these problems surrounding the school education system, your government is not even as ant-bitten. Leaving the management of schools that will produce future citizens of India to the winds is a testimony to the Congress government’s lack of sincerity on the development of education,” he said.
He demanded that immediate steps be taken to bring school education back on track and the issues should be resolved. (NSS)
