
Hyderabad, Oct.1 (NSS): To commemorate International Day of Older Persons (IDOP), HelpAge India today launched its nationwide “GenerationsTogether” campaign aimed at promoting dialogue, respect, and collaboration between younger and older generations, with a focus on creating an inclusive and age-sensitive society. The event also included cultural performances by elderly participants and insightful speeches by dignitaries, all focused on recognizing and supporting the needs of senior citizens.
In the national capital, HelpAge also announced the onboarding of Sharmila Tagore, renowned actor and Padma Bhushan awardee as HelpAge India’s Honorary Brand Ambassador, who launched the campaign in Delhi. The campaign focuses on breaking down barriers between generations, addressing issues like elder isolation and promoting dialogue and empathy between younger and older members of society.
The event saw notable addresses by key dignitaries, including Vepuri Gopala Rao, Founder President of Praja Alochana Vedhika, and S. Sreedhar, President of the All-India Retired Railwaymen’s Federation. Both the speakers emphasised the role of retired professionals in contributing to society and the importance of supporting elder care.

Chief guest Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary, Department of IT, Electronics & Communications, and Department of Industries & Commerce, Government of Telangana, focused on the role of technology in enhancing the quality of life for the elderly, and guest of honour Divya, IAS, CEO of SERP, Telangana State, spoke on rural elder care.
Rohit Prasad, CEO, HelpAge India and Yetendra Yadav, Territory Head – Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, HelpAge India spoke. The event honoured ‘Oldest of the Old’ elderly men and women, recognizing their contributions to the society. The day concluded with a Vote of Thanks from V. Subhaker Reddy, Senior Manager, SAVE, HelpAge India, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries and participants for supporting the elder cause.
