
Hyderabad, Oct.19 (NSS): Protests organized by Hindu groups demanding strict punishment for the accused, who destroyed the Muthyalamma temple in Secunderabad escalated into tensions on Saturday. Hindu religious activists gathered in large numbers around the temple premises to voice their dissent.
As Hindu groups moved towards the mosque located behind the temple, fears of communal clashes arose, prompting police to resort to baton charges. The situation intensified with the baton charge, resulting in injuries to many Hindu activists. Leaders of the Hindu religious organizations gathered in large numbers around the temple to protest against the police’s actions. In the midst of this, a severe clash occurred between the police and the protesters.
The Hindu activists threw slippers, chairs, and water packets at the police who were blocking the rally. The police retaliated by beating those they caught. A young man Durga collapsed with a broken left arm due to the baton charge.
Upon learning of the situation, DCP Rashmi Perumal arrived at the scene. She tried to pacify the protesting Hindu activists. Meanwhile, reports indicated that internet services have been suspended in Secunderabad and surrounding areas to prevent the communal clashes.
