Hyderabad, Nov.12 (NSS): and Ambassador Dr. BM Vinod Kumar has called upon the families of Gulf migrant workers to participate enthusiastically in the household survey in Telangana.
Speaking at a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here on Tuesday, BM Vinod Kumar made it clear that people should not believe the false propaganda being spread by BRS and BJP.
“All Gulf workers are the same caste and the same class. According to the recently issued government order, an ex-gratia of Rs. 5 lakh has been provided to Gulf deceased, admissions in Gurukul schools for children of Gulf workers, and ‘Pravasi Prajavani’ a grievance redressal counter has been set up to solicit issues,” he said.
Vinod Kumar said the information collected in the survey will be crucial for undertaking more welfare programmes in the future.
TPCC NRI cell convenor Mandha Bheem Reddy said if the survey reveals the number of Gulf workers, the government will have an opportunity to make proper plans for their welfare and safe migration.
“Former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao did not disclose the information on Gulf workers collected in the ‘Comprehensive Family Survey’ conducted by the TRS government on August 19, 2014. It did not provide the information even after asking for it under the Right to Information Act,” Bheem Reddy alleged.
“Like soldiers on the borders, Gulf workers are the economic Jawans of the country. The country’s economy is being strengthened with the foreign exchange they send. Gulf workers should be proud to call themselves a ‘Caste of Gulf workers’,” said Gulf JAC leader Chennamaneni Srinivasa Rao.
