
Hyderabad, April 2 (RAHNUMA): Tight security arrangements are in place for the19th edition TATA IPL-2026 (Indian Premier League) (day and night matches) on April 5 and 22 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Uppal.
Nearly 2,000 police personnel, 430 CCTV cameras, bomb squads, and mounted police will ensure safety at the venue, which can host around 39,000 spectators. Authorities have issued a traffic advisory anticipating congestion around Uppal during IPL match days.
Key routes between Nagole, Habsiguda and Ramanthapur are expected to be crowded, with heavy vehicles diverted. Commuters are advised to use public transport. Heavy vehicles from Warangal towards Hyderabad via Uppal shall take the ORR at Ghatkesar and proceed via Abdullapurmet – LB Nagar – Dilsukhnagar. Vehicles from Hyderabad towards Warangal via Uppal shall proceed through LB Nagar – Hayathnagar and take the ORR at Abdullapurmet to reach Warangal.
Spectators attending IPL matches at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium must follow strict security guidelines. Items like laptops, bags, water bottles and outside food are prohibited. Entry will be allowed three hours before the match, and no cloakroom facility will be available.
Digital ticketing will be introduced for upcoming IPL matches from April 13 to streamline entry at Uppal stadium.
Additional measures include SHE Teams for safety, ambulance services, fire engines, and special squads to curb black ticketing.
