Hyderabad, Sept.28 (NSS): Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRA) Commissioner Ranganath has emphasized the collective responsibility to safeguard public properties.
Speaking to the media at Secretariat here on Saturday, Ranganath along with Dana Kishore, Principal Secretary, Municipal Administration & Urban Development (MA&UD) said that the primary goal of HYDRA is to protect lakes, canals and other public properties.
Citing Article 21, which upholds the right to a clean environment as part of the Right to Life, he reiterated that HYDRA is committed to preserving these assets.
Ranganath stressed that rivers, lakes, and canals are public assets, yet misinformation about HYDRA has been circulating on social media.
He revealed that thousands of acres of government land in Ameenpur have been encroached upon. Despite demolishing an illegal structure in Ameenpur, it was quickly rebuilt, and false claims were made that the building housed a hospital, though it did not, Ranganath said.
The Commissioner also mentioned that a few powerful individuals are involved in unauthorized constructions. He disclosed that illegal properties had been demolished in 21 to 22 regions thus far. In Dundigal and Ameenpur, some individuals issued fake permits, and cases have been registered against them. Additionally, a Panchayat Secretary was suspended for their involvement in issuing such fraudulent permissions, he disclosed.
The Commissioner urged the public not to portray HYDRA as a monstrous or intimidating organisation. He assured that HYDRA is a symbol of responsibility and trust, noting that there is no other system like it in the country.
