INDIA POST LAUNCHES NEW TIME-BOUND DELIVERY SERVICES

Hyderabad, March 17 (RAHNUMA):The Department of Posts has rolled out three new time-bound delivery services in six metro cities, including Hyderabad. Union communication minister Jyothiraditya Scindia along with minister of state for communications Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani unveiled the “24 Speed Post, 24 Speed Post Parcel and 48 Speed Post” services from New Delhi.

A Launch event for these services was also held at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s College auditorium in King Koti, Hyderabad. The services ensure next-day delivery for documents and parcels (up to 5 kg), and 48-hour delivery for documents, with refunds in case of delays, subject to certain conditions.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Veena Kumari Dermal, Chief Postmaster General, Telangana Circle, described the initiative as a landmark in postal services. She stated that India Post is evolving in line with market requirements to address the changing needs of retail and bulk customers. The new services are now available in Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru. In Hyderabad, 38 booking offices and 94 delivery offices will handle ’24 Speed Post’ and ’24 Speed Post Parcel’ services, while 176 booking offices and 94 delivery offices will manage ’48 Speed Post’ service. All the consignments under these services will be treated on a priority basis, she added.

With features like real-time tracking, SMS alerts, OTP-based secure delivery, free pickup for businesses, and ‘Book Now, Pay Later’, India Post aims to match evolving logistics demands. Officials say the initiative marks a major leap in modernising postal services and enhancing reliability for both retail and bulk customers.
