
Hyderabad, Dec.2 (RAHNUMA): Dr. B.S. Murthy, Director of IIT Hyderabad, stressed the role of innovation in realising “Viksit Bharat” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat”, noting that India must strengthen its tech and product ecosystem to accelerate development.
Delivering a lecture on “Popular Science and Innovation in Technology” at GITAM, marking the 167th birth anniversary of Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose, Dr Murthy highlighted Bose’s pioneering work across biology, microwaves, and early telecommunications, He urged the students to emulate the scientist’s multidisciplinary spirit.
Dr. Murthy also showcased IITH’s flexible six-module curriculum, micro-credit learning model, Engineering Science program, and the Technology Innovation Park (TIP), which supports students nationwide through mentorship, funding, and research facilities.
Introducing the new BHARATI initiative and an upcoming Inter-IIT UG Innovation Meet, he said the institute aims to nurture “young builders of India.”
The event was hosted by GITAM Hyderabad and attended by students from several city colleges.
