IPEMA – POULTRY INDIA CELEBRATES WORLD PROTEIN DAY 2026

Hyderabad, Feb.27 (RAHNUMA): The Indian Poultry Equipment Manufacturers Association (IPEMA), under its flagship initiative Poultry India and supported by the National Egg Coordination Committee (NECC), celebrated World Protein Day 2026 at SkyKings Football Academy, Bowenpally in Secunderabad, highlighting the critical role of protein in daily nutrition and overall well-being.

Addressing the gathering, the speakers underscored that protein is essential for muscle development, immunity, child growth, and overall health. They pointed out that a significant section of the Indian population consumes less than the recommended daily protein intake, leading to hidden nutritional deficiencies that impact productivity and long-term health outcomes.

India currently produces over 130 billion eggs and more than 5 million metric tonnes of broiler meat annually, with per capita egg availability exceeding 95 eggs per year. Industry representatives noted that poultry continues to be among the most affordable and high-quality sources of protein for households across the country.

Zakeer Hussain, U-17 National Team Coach and AFC Instructor, and Dr. Kiraannmayye Addu, Chief Clinical Nutritionist and Lifestyle Consultant, emphasised the importance of balanced protein intake for youth fitness, strength, and immunity, particularly among growing children and young athletes.

Uday Singh Bayas, President of IPEMA – Poultry India, described protein as the “building block of life” and reaffirmed the sector’s commitment to strengthening nutritional security in India. He also invited stakeholders to participate in the 18th edition of Poultry India Expo 2026, scheduled from November 25 to 27 at Hyderabad International Trade Expositions Centre (HITEX), Hyderabad.

The event reinforced the organisation’s continued commitment to promoting protein awareness, encouraging sustainable growth in the poultry sector, and bridging the gap between academia and industry. Through knowledge exchange, research-driven practices, and public outreach, IPEMA–Poultry India aims to advance awareness about the importance of protein nutrition and position poultry as an affordable, high-quality protein source for the nation.
