Hyderabad, Nov.21 (NSS): Indian Railways Institute of Signal Engineering & Telecommunications (IRISET), located in Tarnaka, Secunderabad, is one of the eight Centralized Training Institutes of Indian Railways specialized in imparting training on Railway Signalling & Telecommunication Systems. The training imparted by IRISET plays a unique role in shaping the Railway Signalling & Telecommunication Engineers. The USP of this Institute is – it houses all varieties of Signalling & Telecommunication systems in working order under single roof. The Institute completes 67 years of existence on November 24.
The Annual Day of the Institute is scheduled to be celebrated on November 24. Key note address from eminent personality, address by the top management, and distribution of awards to meritorious trainees and release of Technical Magazine will form part of the Annual day event. The attendees in the function include faculty & staff of the institute, trainees, dignitaries from Ministry of Railways and representatives from Industry & Zonal Railways and media.
The Institute trains the new recruits into the system either through UPSC or RRB selections. The Initial training spanning around six months lays emphasis on the fundamentals of Railway Signalling, Safety in train operations and hands-on exposure in the laboratories. The Signal & Telecommunication Supervisors inducted into the Indian Railway System are mandated to undergo Refresher courses at a periodicity of every four years. During the Refresher course training, the latest developments in technology and review of safety protocols in train working would be emphasized. The Institute also conducts specialized training on customized content with reference to different technologies and systems available.
