LONDON(RAHNUMA): Israeli settlers entered Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in the walled city of occupied East Jerusalem on Wednesday, with the protection of Israeli police.
The Jerusalem Governorate, affiliated with the Palestinian Authority, reported that a total of 559 settlers entered the mosque in groups through the Mughrabi Gate, conducting provocative tours and performing Talmudic rituals in its courtyards.
Since Oct. 7, 2023, Israeli forces have increased security at the mosque and the Old City entrances.
On Wednesday, Israeli forces demolished a shop in Jerusalem and several commercial facilities in the Anab Al-Kabir area, south of Hebron, in the occupied West Bank.
Israeli authorities cordoned off the area around Damascus Gate in Jerusalem as they demolished a shop owned by Iyad Abu Sneineh, according to Wafa news agency.
Ahmed Al-Zagharna, the mayor of Al-Ramadin village near Anab Al-Kabir, told Wafa that Israeli forces demolished six commercial facilities containing approximately 20 shops, owned by Al-Mahdi, Al-Zagharna and Al-Jamain families.
Israeli forces have closed the road connecting the towns of Al-Ramadin and Ad-Dhahiriya. Al-Zagharna said that facilities are the sole source of livelihood for families facing difficult living conditions amid Israeli restrictions in the West Bank.
