LONDON(RAHNUMA): Jordan sent two new mobile bakeries to Gaza in partnership with the World Central Kitchen organization, following a royal directive to aid Palestinians in the coastal enclave.
The new bakeries will start operations upon arrival in Gaza. They can produce nearly 70,000 loaves of bread each day.
Jordan will now operate three mobile bakeries
in Gaza as part of its efforts to provide relief and medical aid, helping to bolster food supplies, particularly bread, amid the challenging humanitarian situation, according to Petra news agency.
The first Jordanian mobile bakery started operating in Gaza in January and has produced more than 11 million loaves of bread since its inception, according to WCK, the organization overseeing its operations.
Over the past two years, Israel has restricted the entry of essential food into Gaza, including flour, and at times entirely blocked humanitarian aid.
The Jordanian mobile bakery and WCK’s initiatives were among the few that supported Palestinians. WCK is an international nongovernment organization that provides meals and food aid to those affected by crises and conflicts worldwide.
