Jordanian and Omani monarchs discuss de-escalation of regional tensions

LONDON(RAHNUMA): King Abdullah of Jordan and Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman discussed ways to reduce tensions in the region amid US and Israeli military actions against Iran.

The call on Tuesday highlighted the need for an agreement that would end the war and ensure the security of Arab states. They reaffirmed that the security of the Arab Gulf is essential for the safety and stability of both the region and the world, according to the Petra news agency.

King Abdullah called for enhanced Arab coordination to boost regional security and praised Oman’s diplomatic efforts for de-escalation.

Jordan and Oman were among the 10 countries that Iran targeted with ballistic missiles and drones after the US and Israeli forces attacked Tehran’s military and infrastructure capabilities, killing its top leaders, since Feb. 28.

The two countries have not participated in any US-led actions against Iran. Before the war, Oman facilitated US-Iran talks on Iran’s nuclear program, which suffered after the US bombed the Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan sites in June last year.
