Hyderabad, Aug.27 (NSS): “In a significant legal development, the Supreme Court of India has granted bail to BRS leader Kavitha. The decision comes after months of what the BRS party claims to be politically motivated allegations against Kavitha”, said Dr Sravan Dasoju, senior leader of the BRS party. He expressed relief and welcomed the Apex Court’s decision, describing it as a triumph of truth and justice. He emphasized that the court’s observations during the hearing were crucial in highlighting the unfair treatment meted out to Kavitha.
“The Supreme Court has questioned the rationale behind keeping Kavitha in custody even after the investigation was completed and the charge-sheet was filed,” Dr Dasoju stated. “Such actions contradict the fundamental principles of justice and have no place in a democratic society.” He said the Supreme Court found that the High Court had misinterpreted Section 45 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) while denying bail to Kavitha. This misinterpretation, according to Dr Dasoju, led to an unnecessary extension of her detention. The Apex court noted that Kavitha was included as an accused based largely on the confession reports of other accused. This reliance on confessions has raised concerns about the legitimacy and fairness of the charges.
Stating that there was lack of justification for prolonged custody, he said the Supreme Court observed that there was no justification for keeping Kavitha behind bars, particularly after the investigation had concluded and charge sheet is filed. He highlighted that this observation by the Court subtly indicates that the case against Kavitha may have been fabricated.
Stating that today’s judgment of the apex court as a Victory for Justice, Dr Dasoju stated that the Supreme Court’s ruling is not only a victory for Kavitha, but also a reaffirmation of the strength of India’s legal system. He praised Kavitha’s resilience and courage, noting that she had endured a difficult ordeal over the past five months. “The Supreme Court’s decision is a vindication of Kavitha’s integrity and a clear signal that justice will prevail over politically motivated actions,” Dr Dasoju said and extended his heartfelt congratulations to Kavitha and expressed gratitude to the BRS party cadre, leaders, and supporters who stood by her during the challenging time.
He emphasized the party’s commitment to continue fighting against all forms of injustice and political victimization. “This experience has only strengthened our resolve to uphold the principles of democracy, transparency, and justice. We remain dedicated to serving the people of Telangana with integrity and commitment,” he added.
