Karnan reviews e-waste drive, sanitation arrangements at Pahadi Shareef

Hyderabad, March 14 (RAHNUMA): GHMC Commissioner R. V. Karnan conducted a field inspection along with ZC Chandrakala of the ongoing e-waste collection drive at Pahadi Shareef in Jalpalli on Saturday.

He also reviewed sanitation arrangements at the Eidgah premises in view of the upcoming Ramzan festival.

During the visit, the Commissioner examined the collection, handling and storage procedures for electronic waste and interacted with officials regarding measures being taken to streamline the disposal system. He emphasised the need to strengthen public awareness among residents on the safe disposal of electronic waste through authorised collection centres, noting that systematic e-waste collection and processing are essential to minimise environmental risks and promote sustainable waste management practices in the city.

Later, Karnan inspected the Eidgah premises at Pahadi Shareef and reviewed sanitation conditions within the grounds and surrounding localities. He directed officials to ensure that the Eidgah premises and adjoining areas are maintained in a clean and hygienic condition, particularly as large numbers of devotees are expected to visit the site during Ramzan.

The Commissioner also reviewed arrangements being made at the Eidgah ahead of the festival and instructed officials to complete all preparations in a timely manner to ensure convenience for devotees.

In addition, Karnan directed officials to install dustbins at locations identified as frequent waste-dumping spots to discourage indiscriminate disposal of waste and improve cleanliness in the locality. He also emphasised the importance of effective house-to-house garbage collection and regular cleaning of roads to maintain overall civic hygiene.

The Commissioner further instructed sanitation teams to identify and eliminate garbage vulnerable points (GVPs) across the area. He underlined the need to raise awareness among households to hand over their domestic waste only to the ‘Swachh Autos’, ensuring proper waste collection and disposal
