New Delhi, Aug.6 (NSS): In a major development in the Delhi Liquor Policy case filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), BRS party MLC Kavitha withdrew her default bail plea filed before the Rouse Avenue court. On Monday, the hearing in Kavitha’s default bail case was postponed at the Rouse Avenue court.
Judge Kaveri Baweja expressed her displeasure as Kavitha’s lawyers did not attend the hearing. Judge Kaveri Baweja said the petition should be withdrawn if it does not come up for arguments. The court said it would hear the case on Wednesday. Kavitha’s lawyers withdrew the case on Tuesday itself as the hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
Kavitha’s lawyers had filed a default bail plea on July 6, alleging that there were errors in the CBI charge-sheet and added that Kavitha was entitled to avail the default bail.
The CBI said there was nothing wrong with the charge-sheet. The court had on July 22 considered the CBI charge-sheet. The Rouse Avenue court is scheduled to go through the charge-sheet of the CBI on August 9. There seems to be no way for BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha to come out of Tihar Jail in connection with the Delhi liquor scam case in the near future. The Rouse Avenue court has already rejected her bail plea several times.
Kavitha was first arrested by the ED on March 15 and then by the CBI on April 11. Since then, Kavitha has been trying for her bail. However, the trial court had earlier dismissed her plea seeking regular bail in both the cases filed by the ED and the CBI. Kavitha had challenged the order in the Delhi High Court. But she was disappointed there too. In this context, the bail plea was filed again in the trial court.
