Hyderabad, Nov.11 (NSS): BRS party working president KTR today said the harmony of Hindus and Muslims in Telangana had set an example for the country. He said Ganga Jamuna Tehzeeb rule was in the State during former CM KCR’s tenure. “There was a good atmosphere where we respected and reformed each other,” he said.
KTR participated in the birth anniversary celebrations of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad at Telangana Bhavan. Speaking on the occasion, he said Gurukuls had been set up and the status of minority children had been changed. “Minority students have been made to compete with the world. In the previous government, 2,751 students were given scholarships of Rs 20 lakh each. Two acres of land worth Rs 200 crore have been given to Anees-ul-Gurba Orphanage in Nampally. Modern buildings have been constructed at a cost of Rs 37 crore. Rs 10,000 crore has been spent on the welfare of minorities. The Shaadi Mubarak scheme has been taken up like nowhere else in the country.
During the BRS regime, Imams and Muezzins were given Rs 5,000 per month. Mahmood Ali has been made the first deputy chief minister of Telangana. For the first time in Warangal, a Muslim has been given a deputy mayor’s post,” he recalled. He alleged that the Congress government was attacking the minority poor by saying ‘Mohabbat-ka-Dukhan’. “The houses of minorities are being demolished along the Musi. It has cheated people by promising to implement six guarantees in 100 days. They have been cheated of ₹.4,000 crore in the minority budget and they have broken their promise of bringing a separate sub-plan for minorities,” he alleged.
Former minister Mahmood Ali said former CM KCR had provided the best education to Muslim students. He said lakhs of minority students had paved the way for their future. He said ₹.20 lakh each was given for foreign studies of the minority students.
