Hyderabad, Sept.10 (NSS):On the occasion of the death anniversary of Telangana armed fighter Chityala Ilamma, BRS party chief KCR today remembered her fighting spirit. “Ailamma is a symbol of Telangana’s women’s strength and bahujan courage. Her fighting spirit was involved in the movement for the achievement of Telangana state,” he said.
In a statement, KCR said that the resistance of Chakali Ilamma, who declared defiance of anti-people rule, was always an ideal for all . In order to continue the spirit of Ilamma, the previous BRS government had decided that her birth anniversary should be officially celebrated every year by the Telangana government, he recalled.
Former minister Harish Rao said that termed Chakali Ilamma as the woman warrior of Telangana. “ She was the firebrand leader, who fought for the land and for the liberation of people from bonded labour and showed the world the spirit of struggle of the people of Telangana,” he said .
Tributes were paid to Chakali Ilamma on her death anniversary by Rao . He said that the bravery and consciousness displayed by the warrior during the Telangana armed struggle was a great inspiration for today’s generation. He recalled that the KCR government had decided and implemented the birth and death anniversary celebrations of Chakali Ilamma officially to commemorate her sacrifices. He tweeted that KCR had honoured Ilamma with a lesson for the future generations so that they could know the history of the great woman.
