KCR should tender an unconditional apology to people : Congress MLA

Hyderabad, Dec.10 (NSS): Welcoming the High Court’s verdict against former MLA and BRS leader Chennamaneni Ramesh, whose Indian citizenship was stripped and he was declared a German citizen,  Government Whip Aadi Srinivas has demanded that former chief minister and BRS president K Chandrashekar Rao tender an unconditional apology to the people for encouraging the guilty person in politics.

Speaking to reporters at the Congress Legislative Party ( CLP) media conference hall here on Tuesday, Aadi Srinivas called the court’s verdict a major setback for KCR and alleged that KCR knowingly granted a party ticket to Ramesh, despite being aware of his non-citizenship status.

Vemulawada MLA Aadi Srinivas stated that Ramesh, who holds a German passport and is ineligible as an Indian citizen, was allegedly allowed to contest elections deliberately.

He demanded that both KCR and Chennamaneni face legal consequences for misleading the people.

“The BRS chief should also tender an unconditional apology to the people of Vemulawada for fielding an ineligible candidate in the Assembly election,” Aadi Srinivas said.

The Congress MLA questioned how the BRS party granted him a ticket despite his ineligibility and why KTR, who is vocal on all issues on the social media, has remained silent on this matter.

He also accused Ramesh of misusing his OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) card and traveling 45 times using a German passport. Highlighting past verdicts, the Congress MLA pointed out that Ramesh’s voting rights were previously annulled by the Andhra Pradesh High Court, and his Indian citizenship was canceled three times by the Central Government.

The court has imposed a fine of Rs.30 lakh on Ramesh for misleading the judiciary.

Srinivas vowed to continue his legal battle if Ramesh appeals the verdict in a higher court. He also accused the BRS president of betraying weaker sections by manipulating vote counts, citing the example of Dalit leader Adluri Laxman, who was allegedly cheated during elections in Dharmapuri.

The Government Whip asserted that the truth has finally prevailed after a 15-year legal battle and called for strict legal action against Ramesh.
