
Hyderabad, Sept.17 (NSS): The popular Khairatabad Maha Ganapati immersion was held on a grand manner in Hussainsagar on Tuesday.
The immersion of 70-foot Ganesh Idol took place at crane no. 4 located on NTR Marg at 1.30 PM after performing the final puja.
The Ganesh idol entered into the lap of water amidst chants of ‘Jai Bholo Ganesh Maharaj ki Jai’ by the devotees. The Khairatabad Ganesh Shobha Yatra started around at 6 AM after prayers and the idol reached Tank Bund via Telephone Bhavan, Telugu Talli flyover and Secretariat.
A large number of devotees gathered for Maha Ganapati immersion. The surrounding areas of Tankbund turned into a crowded place of devotees during the immersion program. Huge cranes were used for the immersion.
The Khairatabad Ganesh, a prominent deity in Hyderabad, has once again garnered significant attention, not just in the city but across the country. To mark the 70th anniversary of the Ganesh festival celebrations, this year’s festivities featured a record-breaking 70-foot-tall idol.
During the 11-day festival, millions of devotees and visitors came to pay their respects to the Maha Ganapati. The organisers reported an impressive revenue of ₹1.10 crore this year. Of this amount, ₹70 lakhs were collected through the donation boxes, while another ₹40 lakhs came from advertisements and hoardings.
Meanwhile, Revanth Reddy made history by participating in the Ganesh immersion for the first time as the Chief Minister.
After attending the Praja Palana Dinotsavam celebrations at Public Gardens, the Chief Minister directly proceeded to Tank Bund’s NTR Marg.
At the Hussainsagar Lake, Revanth Reddy inspected the immersion arrangements.
City Police Commissioner CV Anand briefed him on the preparations. The Chief Minister inquired about the arrangements for the Khairatabad Ganesh immersion and advised officials to ensure periodic rest breaks for crane drivers and other staff.
He also interacted with GHMC workers at Tank Bund to address any issues. PCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud, MLA Danam Nagender and GHMC Mayor Vijayalakshmi and other officials accompanied the Chief Minister.
