Hyderabad, Jan.10 (RAHNUMA): Minister for Roads and Buildings Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Saturday voiced his frustration over the negative campaigns being waged against him on social media. In a sensational statement, he remarked, “Kill me by giving some poison,”.
While addressing the media at the Ministers Quarters, he conveyed that certain social media outlets are tormenting him mentally with harmful rumours, maintaining that those responsible would ultimately face divine retribution.
He questioned, “Is it wrong for officials to sit with me during review meetings as the district minister? Despite the constant criticism, I’ve been elected six times. I’m humbly asking for understanding. This kind of news can lead people to despair. I’m someone who empathizes with others in pain. If you think you can make me cry, then try; I’m already grieving the loss of my son,” he said, his voice heavy with emotion.
The Minister also denounced the intentional spread of news targeting female officers on social media and news platforms.
He stressed, “It’s not appropriate to disseminate information carelessly on social media. The transfers of IAS officers are entirely dependent on the Chief Minister and the Chief Secretary. A minister does not have the authority to transfer IAS officers. Achieving IAS or IPS status requires significant effort, and these officers do not get holidays. Transfers are a normal part of their careers. I urge the media to consider the families involved. The media people have wives and children at home. IAS officers have also families too; putting them through mental anguish is unjust. Criticism against the Chief Minister on social media has crossed all boundaries. Is it wrong for women to pursue their careers? What’s the gain in creating chaos for ministers and harassing female officers?”
The Cinematography Minister also mentioned that he has distanced himself from the film industry.
“Following the controversy surrounding the movie ‘Pushpa’, I’ve halted permission for premium screenings. I wasn’t aware of the files related to ticket pricing and permissions for Raja Saab and Chiranjeevi’s films; those government orders were issued without my knowledge. I’ve shifted my focus away from the film industry and have no plans to return,” Komatireddy Venkat Reddy clarified.
