Hyderabad, Oct.11 (NSS): Union Minister G Kishan Reddy has once again condemned the demolition of houses in Musi river catchment areas. He assured the affected families that the BJP would stand by them. He said people in the Musi river catchment areas had worked very hard to buy small plots of land and added that it was outrageous that the government had given them all permissions while condemning that they are now being demolished. Stating that demolitions are not easy, he demanded that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy personally visit the Musi river area and convince the people.
Kishan Reddy said the Musi river returning wall can also be constructed and beautified. He said all the drains were joining the Musi river and the sewage water was directly flowing into the river without even being treated. He recalled that the Central Government was treating the River Ganga at a very low cost. “Rs 1.50 lakh crore is not required for the beautification of the Musi river. It is not right to sell the race course space and beautify it too much. The State government’s claim that houses will be demolished without a plan is not the right way to do so,” he said.
The Union Minister warned that the CM should not act aggressively. He alleged that the previous BRS government had resorted to similar threats against the people. “It is a normal process for the Governor to legitimise Hydra and none of the victims should be afraid,” he said. He once again said the BJP was fighting for the Musi river victims. He said people were not weak. “Hydra is not a ghost and in the past too. The government used to demolish illegal constructions,” he said.
The Union minister demanded that the bus depot and metro pillars located in the Musi river should be demolished first. “How can the houses of the poor be demolished first without demolishing them,” he asked. He demanded that CM Revanth Reddy come to the ground level and seek his views on people’s issues. He demanded that the CM first answer as to what should be done with the sewage water that meets the Musi. He demanded that the CM give an explanation on the issue first. Kishan Reddy denied reports that the BRS party leaders had approached him.
