
Hyderabad, June 21 :Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy launched the 10th round of commercial coal mine auctions in Hyderabad, which includes 67 coal mines, one of which is located in Telangana. The Telangana government had previously requested the allocation of coal blocks near Singareni Collieries to the state-run mining company without going through the auction process. This request was made by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka to the Union Coal and Mines Minister.
The Singareni Collieries Company Ltd. (SCCL) is a public sector undertaking and operates as a joint venture between the Telangana government and the Central government, holding equity shares of 51% and 49%, respectively. SCCL’s coal mines are situated in the districts of Adilabad, Karimnagar, Khammam, and Warangal.
