Hyderabad, Nov.17 (RAHNUMA): The main opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has accused the Congress-led state government of granting major public contracts to KLSR Infratech, a company currently facing insolvency and bankruptcy proceedings. BRS spokesperson Manne Krishank posed sharp questions to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, alleging ‘unusual favoritism’ towards the firm.
Krishank pointed out that the Supreme Court recently admitted a case involving KLSR Infratech, after an NCLT judge reportedly recused himself citing pressure from higher authorities. The development, he said, has intensified concern about the company’s legal status.
Despite these proceedings, the Telangana government has awarded multiple high-value contracts to the firm over the past two years, including: Rs.145 crore for the New College of Veterinary Science, Kodangal; Rs.185 crore for road works in Vikarabad; Rs.116 crore for the Basheerabad–Mailavar road project; Rs.191 crore for the Paleru Lift Irrigation Scheme; Rs.319 crore for the Rajiv Gandhi Lift Irrigation Scheme, Suryapet; Rs.168 crore for HMWSSB pipeline works, and additional works related to Young India Integrated Residential Schools. The BRS leader claimed that several departments failed to provide clear responses to related RTI queries, adding to suspicion.
Krishank reiterated previous allegations against the firm, including ED observations in earlier raids and a controversy involving a Land Cruiser vehicle once linked to the Chief Minister. He stressed that these issues raise questions about the company’s ‘real relationship’ with the state government.
The BRS spokesperson also criticised the Chief Minister’s remarks on the Ravindra Bharathi Awards, calling them ‘derogatory and unfortunate’ for a platform that honours teachers, artists and public contributors. People of Telangana ‘deserve transparent answers’ on why a company under insolvency scrutiny continues to receive major government projects.
