
Amaravati, July 14 (NSS): Mancho Ferrer, organiser of the Rural Development Trust (RDT), has said they would extend their full support to the State government’s initiatives. Mancho Ferrer met with State Education & IT Minister Nara Lokesh at the latter’s residence in Undavalli on Sunday. The Minister felicitated Ferrer with a Mangalagiri handloom shawl on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said the services rendered by the RDT in parallel to the government were inspiring. He appreciated the services rendered by the Rural Development Trust, which was started by Vincent Ferrer in 1969, in over 3,000 villages in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States. He praised the RDT for providing parallel services to the people by constructing hospitals in the villages of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana at a cost of thousands of crores of rupees, providing financial assistance to the poor, construction of houses, education, medical care, construction of check dams and drinking water facility in the villages.
Nara Lokesh, who visited the RDT office during the Yuvagalam padayatra, proposed to work together to further expand the RDT services as soon as the TDP government comes to power. The Minister urged the Rural Development Trust (RDT) to contribute to the government’s initiatives such as employment generation, self-employment, women’s empowerment, skill development to the youth, job opportunities in other countries by teaching them foreign languages and so on. The RDT organizers responded positively to the proposal. They said they would work with the State government to prepare a joint plan for employment, service and infrastructure creation in rural areas. (NSS)
