Hyderabad, Aug.7 (NSS): Former MLA Peddi Sudarshan Reddy on Wednesday claimed there were loopholes and conspiracies in the farm loan waiver decision taken by the Congress government. “The BRS party has repeatedly said the decision to waive off the farm loan was not on the part of the farmers, but on the government’s side. The same has now become a reality,” he said. He also said a special phone number had been given to receive complaints from the farmers who are eligible for the farm loan waiver scheme, but are struggling to get the loan waiver.
“In the last 48 hours, 3,562 calls were received across the State by us. A total of 42,984 complaints were received on WhatsApp in the form of messages. This means that 875 complaints have been received every hour on the farm loan waiver undertaken by the Congress government. The complaints received on the phone number of Telangana Bhavan are proof of the extent to which the farm loan waiver is being implemented in the State,” he said .
Peddi Sudarshan Reddy recalled that CM Revanth Reddy and Agriculture Minister had said ration card was not the criterion for the extension of the loan waiver benefit. “But an inspection at the village level will reveal from the complaints of the farmers that the loan waiver has been waived only for the ration-card holders. Lakhs of farmers are suffering due to this,” he said. Reddy also said they had received complaints that there were minor errors in the Aadhaar card details of the farmers, which deprived them of the loan waiver benefit.
He said the benefit was being denied to those, who have visas. Reddy alleged that CM Revanth Reddy had waived off the loan for the sake of getting a name for himself due to the pressure exerted by their party. Stating that the BRS party is demanding a loan waiver for all on the basis of the farmer’s crops, he alleged that the loan waiver scheme was implanted by diverting the funds meant for agriculture bonus and Rythu Bharosa scheme.
Wondering as to why did the government has provisions that bankers don’t have, he recalled that during KCR’s regime, ₹ 72,000 crore was given to farmers in the form of rythu bandhu and another Rs 30,000 crore in the form of farm loan waiver. He demanded that CM Revanth Reddy should hold farmers’ conferences at the field level and review the loan waiver scheme. He alleged that the cabinet sub-committee set up to review rythu bharosa was confined to excursions only. He said he would soon lodge a complaint with the investigating agencies on the civil supplies scam.
