
Hyderabad, Oct.8 (NSS): City Cyber Crime Police refunded Rs 21,55,331 to the victims in two cases i.e. Rs 8,05,331 in Cr.No.96/2024 and Rs 13,50,000/- in Cr.No.1993/2024, who were cheated by the Cyber fraudsters on the pretext of investment in trading and promising substantial profits.
In Cr.No 96/2024, police received a complaint from a 67-year-old retired man of Hyderabad stating that the Cyber fraudsters cheated him on the pretext of fake TRAI & CBI officers and made him to transfer Rs 8,05,331/- to the bank accounts provided by the accused. In this regard the Cyber Crime Police, Hyderabad registered a case in Cr.No.96/2024, u/s 66(C), 66(D) IT Act & Sec 319(2),318(4),338,336(3),340(2) BNS and investigated the case.
In another case Cr.No.1993/2024, a complaint was received from a 56-years-old man stating that the Cyber fraudsters cheated him on the pretext of investment in NUVAMA Securities and promising substantial profits and made him to transfer an Rs 13,50,000/- to the bank accounts provided by the accused. In this regard the Cyber Crime Police, Hyderabad registered a case in Cr.No.1993/2024, u/s 66(C), 66(D) ITA Act & Sec 318(4),319 (2),338,336(3),340(2) BNS and took up investigation.
In Cr.No.96/2024, Inspector K. Madhusudhan Rao, along with his team and in Cr.No.1993/2024 Inspector S. Naresh along with his team under the direct supervision of ACP Cyber Crime PS, Hyderabad Shiva Maruthi, ACP Cyber Crime PS, Chand Basha, sent notices to the Bank officials and followed up with the Bank officials to freeze the amount and guided the complainant to file a petition in the court for the refund of the put-on-hold amount in the fraudulent accounts.
Further, within a few days, the police received court orders from the Addl Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Eswaraiah of XII ACMM Court, Nampally, Hyderabad, regarding reverting back the amount Rs 21,55,331/- to the complainant’s Bank Account. The efforts of the Cyber Crimes Unit, Hyderabad City were appreciated by the Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad City.
Dara Kavitha, Dy. Commissioner of Police, Cyber Crime Unit, Hyderabad City appealed to the public not to believe unauthorized and unknown platforms, luring huge returns in short time. Don’t get panic if receive any threatening video calls claiming them as Police, CBI, RBI, ED, Customs, judges , cyber crimes, Narcotics and so on. There is a possibility to get refund of at least part of the lost and put on hold amount, if it is reported immediately. Victims of such Cyber frauds can report immediately on the helpline number 1930 or through the national Cyber Crime reporting portal cybercrime.gov.in.
