Lothers, Jotun Penguins in TCF Champions Trophy final showdown today

Author: ARAB NEWSThu, 2017-03-16ID: 1489662424601600300JEDDAH: Lothers Cricket Club will clash with Jotun Penguins in final for the Jotun Paints Champions Trophy cricket, organized by the Tellichery Cricket Forum (TCF) and played at the BMT ground, Sitteen Road.In semifinals, Lothers scored a thrilling 14-run win over Kanoo Logistics in a high-scoring match.In the other semis, Jotun Penguins thrashed Al-Max Cricket Club by nine wickets with three overs to spareIn the first match, Lothers were put into bat and scored 154 runs for two wickets in the stipulated 10 overs.Left-handed opener, Waqas Ali scored a match winning unbeaten innings of 88 runs off 38 balls (11 sixes, three fours).The unbroken third-wicket partnership between Ali and Zahid Hussain (26 not out off 12 balls) put on 68 runs, which came off 23 balls.Sarfras and Shan took a wicket each for the bowling side. In reply, Kanoo Logistics were off to a good start as the opening pair put on 77 runs. Opener Safayer scored 66 runs. However, the rest of the batsmen failed to rise to the occasion despite a gallant cameo from Safras who remained not out on 24 runs (off five balls).Zar Khan, Abdul Wahid, Sami Ulla and Raza took a wicket each. Man of the Match: Waqas The second match was a one-sided affair. Al-Max won the toss and scored 106 for six in the required overs.Jotun opening bowler Ahmed struck first ball, but Zaheer Ahmed (33) and Ahmed Qurashi (33) added some valuable runs for second wicket. Mohd Fasmi later propped the total with 19 runs. Ahmed Ali, Waqas, Aftab and Amjed bagged a wicket each. In reply Jotun Penguins opener Mohd Bilal played a brilliant innings of 66 from 25 balls (seven sixes, five fours) to steer his team into the final. Ali Ramzan reminded not out on 15 while Shams got 14. Zaheer Ahmed took one wicket for Al-Max. Man of the Match: Mohd Bilal.Holiday Inn Jeddah Gateway, Turkish Airlines, Bupa Arabia, 3 Horses, Al-Hokair Group, FSN, Kool Design and Futurelite are the co-sponsors of the tourney. The final will be played on Friday, March 17 at 7.00 p.m. at the above venue.
