RIYADH, 23 October: The holy city of Madinah received more than 14.1 million visitors during 2023, an increase of 124 percent compared to 2014, official statistics have revealed.
Al-Madinah Region Development Authority said visitors spent more than SR49 billion ($13 billion) during 2023 and that the average stay increased to ten days, highlighting the city’s popularity among pilgrims and visitors.
Visitors to the city spent time praying in the Prophet’s Mosque and Quba Mosque, as well as visiting archaeological sites associated with the life of the Prophet Muhammad.
In coordination with its partners, the authority is working to prepare more than 100 sites to enrich the experience of pilgrims and visitors to Madinah, and deepen their religious and cultural journey.
