Hyderabad, Sept.15 (NSS): On the occasion of the 40th Foundation Day of Mahila Congress, a grand celebration was held under the leadership of Mahila Congress president Sunitha Rao at Gandhi Bhavan here on Sunday.
As part of the event, the membership drive for Mahila Congress was officially launched at Gandhi Bhavan.
On the occasion, Sunitha Rao paid homage to the Iron Lady of India, the nation’s first woman Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. She mentioned that Mahila Congress was founded 40 years ago under the guidance of Indira Gandhi, following the directives of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) Women’s Wing.
In her speech, Sunitha Rao emphasised the Congress party’s long-standing commitment to women’s empowerment, financial support and awareness. She highlighted how the party has consistently honoured women by offering them positions of leadership in politics, paving the way for a more equal and empowered society.
The membership drive for Mahila Congress now comes with an affordable registration fee of ₹100. Additionally, to ease the process, an online registration portal has been launched to facilitate women who wish to join and contribute to the cause of women’s rights and political empowerment.
