MANUU holds condolence meeting for late Iranian President Raisi

Hyderabad, May 21 (INN): The Persian Department of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) held a condolence meeting to mourn the tragic death of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Syed Ebrahim Raisi, and other senior Iranian officials in a helicopter accident.

Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice-Chancellor of MANUU, expressed profound sorrow over the incident, highlighting Raisi’s contributions to strengthening India-Iran relations. He remarked that Raisi’s death is an irreparable loss, particularly for teachers, scholars of Persian, and those interested in Indo-Iranian literature and culture.

During the meeting held at the Department of Persian and Central Asian Studies (DP&CAS), Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar of MANUU, read out the Vice-Chancellor’s condolence message. The message praised Raisi’s efforts in fostering international relations and resolving mutual differences and described them as unforgettable.

Prof. Aziz Bano, Dean of the School of Languages, and Dr. Syeda Asmath Jahan, Head of DP&CAS, also addressed the gathering. They expressed that Raisi’s passing is an irreplaceable loss and commemorated him as a leader whose legacy will endure.

The condolence meeting was attended by teachers, scholars, and students from the Persian departments at MANUU’s Hyderabad, Lucknow, and Srinagar campuses, all of whom expressed their deep condolences. (INN)
