
Hyderabad, Jan.24 (RAHNUMA): A major fire broke out at Batcha Furniture shop located in Chiragali Lane, Nampally, on Saturday, triggering panic in the densely populated area. The blaze reportedly began on the ground floor of a four-storey building and rapidly spread to the upper floors, with flames raging for several hours.
Fire and rescue personnel rushed to the spot immediately and launched intensive firefighting operations. As many as 10 fire engines were pressed into service to control the inferno. Thick smoke and intense heat severely hampered rescue efforts.
According to preliminary information, six people who included two children and their mother were reportedly trapped inside the building at the time of the incident, raising serious concerns. Firefighters continued search and rescue operations amid heavy smoke to locate and evacuate those trapped. Huge flames were seen rising from the shop causing concern among people living in surrounding areas.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar reached the scene and personally monitored the situation. He directed the officials to take all necessary measures to contain the fire swiftly and ensure the safety of those inside the building.
The cause of the fire and details regarding casualties are yet to be ascertained. Further information is awaited.
