Hyderabad, June 12 (INN): Minister Ponnam Prabhakar expressed serious dissatisfaction with GHMC and Water Board officials regarding their preparedness for the rainy season in Greater Hyderabad. During a review meeting, the minister scrutinised the officials about the measures in place to tackle monsoon challenges.
GHMC officials presented their monsoon plan through a PowerPoint presentation, but the minister found their responses unsatisfactory. He criticised the authorities for the numerous waterlogging points and questioned why water stagnates at more places than identified. He also raised concerns about poor sanitation and the increasing complaints about stray dogs near garbage points.
Sanitation Additional Commissioner Upender Reddy faced the minister’s ire over the city’s sanitation failures. Ponnam Prabhakar insisted that traffic police must be on the ground during evening peak hours to manage traffic flow.
Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi and other officials from GHMC, Water Board, Electricity, and Police departments attended the meeting. Both the mayor and the minister expressed impatience with the electrical officials’ negligence concerning street lights.
Ponnam Prabhakar emphasised the need for prompt responses to public complaints and immediate action. He urged early measures to prevent inconvenience to the public during the rainy season. (INN)
