Hyderabad, Nov.15 (NSS): Ministers Tummala Nageshwara Rao and Sridhar Babu strongly criticised BRS leaders for allegedly instigating farmers.
Speaking to the media at the Secretariat here on Friday, the Ministers accused the previous BRS government of mismanaging the State’s financial system and also found fault with the BRS leaders for creating unrest in Telangana State.
Minister for Agriculture Tummala Nageswara Rao said the State government is fulfilling promises to farmers despite economic challenges.
“A bonus for fine variety of paddy has already been announced and it has been ordered to disburse payments within a week of procurement. Farmers are encouraged to provide constructive suggestions rather than falling for political instigation,” he said.
The Minister stated that the Telangana leads in paddy production with 146 lakh metric tons cultivated across 66.77 lakh acres and the cultivation of fine-grain varieties increased to 40 lakh acres, thanks to a Rs.500 bonus announced by the State government.
The state has set up 7,411 procurement centers and is exploring opportunities to export surplus produce, he disclosed.
Accusing the BJP leaders of destabilising the Congress government by undermining farmers’ morale, Tummala Nageshwara Rao called for a change in moisture content rules by the BJP if they truly care about farmers.
Minister Sridhar Babu alleged that BRS working president KT Rama Rao’s role was involved in the Lagacharla incident, stating that his own party leaders have raised concerns.
He dismissed claims of conspiracy to arrest KTR, emphasising that an impartial investigation is underway under senior officials.
Sridhar Babu alleged that attempts to harm a Collector and Group-1 officer were made during the incident.
He claimed that BJP and BRS are colluding to destabilise the State government under the guise of farmers’ agitation.
