
Hyderabad, Feb.6 (RAHNUMA): The National convener of MV Foundation R.Venkat Reddy was Invited to the Global Conference on Elimination of Child Labour to be held from February11-13 in Marrakech of Morocco. The conference is jointly organized by the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco and the International Labour Organization (ILO). The global conference will bring together the representatives of governments, workers and employers organizations, civil society, international agencies and academia to discuss strategies and accelerate global efforts to eliminate child labour.
Venkat Reddy will participate in the conference for sharing the Foundation’s experience in mobilizing communities, withdrawing children from the child labour menace and creating the Child Labour Free Zones.
In a statement, Reddy said that MV Foundation’s work over the past decades had demonstrated that the child labour can be effectively addressed through the community participation and strengthening public education systems.
He said that the conference assumes significance as global estimates indicate that millions of children continue to remain in the child labour, underscoring the urgency of renewed international commitment and action.
He said that his Foundation was reiterating that eliminating the child labour and ensuring education for every child remains essential for achieving social justice and sustainable development.
