Hyderabad, Nov.21 (NSS): The NCC Directorate of Andhra Pradesh & Telangana showcased remarkable talent and determination at the prestigious Kokrajhar Marathon held on November 17, 2024. Competing against strong contenders from across the nation, the team achieved outstanding results, securing top positions and earning accolades for their exceptional performance.
The marathon, organised as part of the Special National Integration Camp witnessed participation from over 2,000 athletes, including NCC cadets, defence, paramilitary and Assam personnel and civilian runners. The event aimed to promote peace, harmony, unity, fitness and cultural exchange.
The Andhra Pradesh & Telangana NCC cadets demonstrated exemplary discipline, endurance, and sportsmanship. Their rigorous training, guided by Col Anil Kumar, Group Commander, Hyderabad Group, who himself participated in Half Marathon at Kokrajhar and Havildar Narender Kangash paid off as they clinched two podium finishes. Cadet V Samantha of Nizamabad Group and GCI Hema Bindu of Hyderabad Group clinched Gold Medals in their categories. Cadet Arun Kumar clocked a time of one hour and 28 minutes in Half Marathon and secured overall sixth position.
Air Commodore VM Reddy, Deputy Director General of NCC, Andhra Pradesh & Telangana Directorate, congratulated the cadets and emphasized the importance of such events in fostering physical fitness as well as mental robustness.
