NCST MEMBER REVIEWS SC / ST WELFARE MEASURES AT GSI, HYD

Hyderabad, Dec.24 (RAHNUMA): Jatothu Hussain, Member of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST), visited the Geological Survey of India (GSI), Southern Region Headquarters, Hyderabad, on Tuesday (December 23) to review welfare measures and workplace practices for SC / ST employees.

He was accorded a warm reception by Basab Mukhopadhyay, Additional Director General & Head of Department, GSI Southern Region, along with Dr. S. Ravi, Deputy Director General and Head of GSI Training Institute, and other senior officers.

As part of the visit, Hussain paid floral tributes to the statues of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and the portraits of eminent national leaders and tribal icons, including Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, Birsa Munda and Kumaram Bheem. He also participated in the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” plantation drive, underscoring the commitment to environmental sustainability.

The NCST Member visited the William King Geological Museum, where he observed a wide range of rock, mineral, ore, metal and fossil specimens. He later interacted with Scheduled Tribe employees and office bearers of the SC/ST Employees Welfare Association, discussing service conditions, welfare initiatives, and inclusive workplace practices.

A detailed meeting was held with GSI Southern Region and Training Institute management, including the Director and Liaison Officer (SC/ST), focusing on grievance redressal mechanisms, representation of ST employees, and strengthening institutional support systems.
