Hyderabad, March 7 (RAHNUMA): The National Health Authority (NHA) concluded the two-day “NHCX Innovation Meet” at the Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad, bringing together the regulators, government officials, insurers, technology innovators and academia to accelerate interoperable digital health claims under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.
The event, held on March 6–7, also marked the grand finale of the National Health Claims Exchange (NHCX) Hackathon, where finalists showcased innovative solutions aimed at simplifying and standardising health insurance claims processing across India.
Speaking at the inaugural session, Dr. Sunil Kumar Barnwal, CEO of the National Health Authority, described health claims as a persistent challenge in the insurance ecosystem and said NHCX aims to bring interoperability and standardisation to the process. “The long-term vision for NHCX is similar to digital public infrastructure like Unified Payments Interface (UPI) where users trust the system because it works seamlessly”, he noted.
Among those present were Saurabh Gaur, Secretary, Health, Medical and Family Welfare, Government of Andhra Pradesh; Dr. Girdhar Gyani, Director General of the Association of Healthcare Providers of India; and Prof. G. Narahari Sastry, Dean of Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad.
More than 110 solutions were submitted for the hackathon and evaluated by an expert jury comprising representatives from academia, government and industry. Winners were felicitated during the event for innovations addressing key bottlenecks in health insurance claims.
During the meet, NHA also launched three partnership initiatives — NHCX Champions, ABDM Ambassadors and NHCX-PMJAY Early Integrators — to recognise organisations supporting adoption of digital claims infrastructure.
The event concluded with a synthesis of discussions by Kiran Gopal Vaska, Joint Secretary and Mission Director of ABDM, followed by a valedictory address by Ajay Seth, Chairman of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India.
