
Hyderabad, Oct.19 (NSS): The sleuths of Commissioner’s Task Force, West Zone Team, along with Madhura Nagar Police apprehended one Intipalli Rama Rao, a habitual attention diversion offender.
Police said the accused Intipally Rama Rao alias Ramu son of Venkata Satya Narayana Murthy, 30 years, Graphic Designer, Kapu, native of Chintalapally village, Razole Mandal, East Godhavari district, AP. The accused began committing offences. He committed some 55 cases across two Telugu States. He confessed to have committed 19 offences of which nine were registered in Hyderabad City.
Police said the accused specifically targets SBI cash deposit ATM centers to commit offences. He waits at these centers for victims arriving to deposit cash and approaches them, claiming that his ATM card has been declined for withdrawals and that he is in urgent need of cash. He then offers to transfer funds to the victim’s account via NEFT or IMPS. To deceive the victim, he fabricates a fraudulent message by altering the last four digits of a pre-edited text message, which he presents as evidence that the money has been debited from his account and will be credited to the victim’s account within 1-2 hours. Victims believing this misinformation, inadvertently hand over cash to the accused. The police seized cash of Rs 5,16,000/-, cell phone Vivo –V25 Pro-01.
