(RAHNUMA) What happened in Bangladesh was extremely horrific. It was not merely a murder; rather, it was the height of brutality and savagery, and extremely condemnable. Islam does not permit this at all. This is not only a violation of Islamic teachings but also a cause of defaming Islam itself. Therefore, such people should be given the strictest possible punishment.

Religious extremism and hatred are destroying the country.

What sectarian elements did to the Christian community in our country on the occasion of Christmas cannot be justified either. It is, in a way, an attack on the religious freedom granted to citizens by the Constitution. Churches were attacked in many places, and attempts were made to stop the Christian community from celebrating their festival.

A few days ago, in Nalanda, Bihar, a Muslim cloth hawker was brutally beaten by some people after they asked his name and religion, to the extent that he died in the hospital. A similar incident occurred in Kerala, where a Dalit youth from Chhattisgarh was beaten to death after being labeled a Bangladeshi. A few days later, in Odisha, three Muslim laborers from West Bengal were subjected to mob lynching; one of them died and two are undergoing treatment in the hospital.

However, neither the government nor any member of its cabinet condemned these incidents or issued any statement on them. What should this double standard be called? And their is discussion on TV channels about the incident in Bangladesh, while remaining silent on the mob lynchings taking place with in the country, is extremely regrettable. What should this double standard be called?

Certainly, this is not the India that Mahatma Gandhi, Sheikhul Hind, Motilal Nehru, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad and our great leaders had dreamed of.
