
Hyderabad, April 12 (RAHNUMA): The state of Telangana is preparing for a significant period of heatwave conditions, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Hyderabad has issued an orange alert for severe heat impacts, expected to last until approximately April 16.
The IMD has announced an orange alert for the Hyderabad city on April 16, predicting maximum temperatures to range from 41 to 44 degrees Celsius. This alert applies to several districts from April 12 to 16.
Weather forecasts from the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) and the IMD on Sunday predicted an increase in maximum temperatures by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius above normal over the upcoming three days.
Between Saturday and Sunday, Telangana recorded its highest temperature at Chinna Thandrapadu in the Jogulamba Gadwal district, which reached 41.8°C. In the suburban areas, the Maheswaram industrial zone in Rangareddy saw a maximum of 41.2°C, while the Medchal industrial area recorded 40.1°C. Within the Hyderabad Metropolitan area, the highest was 39.5°C at the Ward Office in Nehru Nagar.
Other areas experiencing elevated temperatures included Gubbagurthy in Khammam at 41.7°C, Ghanpur in Nalgonda also at 41.7°C, and Talamadugu in Adilabad, which recorded 41.6°C.
