Hyderabad, Oct.18 (NSS): The Ministry of Panchayati Raj is organizing a Panchayat Sammelan on “Ease of Living: Enhancing Service Delivery at the Grassroots” on October 22  at National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (NIRD&PR), Hyderabad. The Panchayat Sammelan will be inaugurated in the presence of Vivek Bharadwaj, Secretary, Ministry of Panchayati Raj; Dr G. This initiative is in line with the constitutional empowerment of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) under Article 243G, which enables PRIs to function as units of local self-government. It supports the decentralized governance of 29 sectors, including agriculture, health, education, social welfare, and public distribution systems. This initiative also aligns with the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister to improve government efficiency at grassroots level, ensuring quicker, smoother service delivery in rural areas.

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj is organizing four regional workshops as part of the Panchayat Sammelan on ‘Ease of Living: Enhancing Service Delivery at the Grassroots’. The first workshop in the series of four, scheduled for October 22 in Hyderabad, will gather representatives from seven States viz. Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Odisha, and Telangana.

The Panchayat Sammelan aims to share State-specific strategies, best practices and ideas to improve last-mile service accessibility and accelerate efficient governance in rural India. A key focus will be on benchmarking and improving the quality of service delivery in rural areas. The National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRD&PR) will present insights on benchmarking rural services. Moreover, emerging technologies to enhance service delivery will be explored, with case studies from the Wadhwani Foundation.
