Hyderabad, Sept.22 (NSS): Former minister Harish Rao today said it was ironic that Minister Ponnam Prabhakar was boasting that they had completed the Yellampally project by themselves and added that the minister was forgetting that the BRS government had completed the Yellampally project, which was a pending and a discriminated project during the Congress rule in the united State, into use.
He mocked that although the Congress party built the Yellampally barrage, it was as not filled with water. He said after the formation of Telangana, they completed the construction of rehabilitation colonies, paid compensation to the flood victims, shifted the people of the submerged villages to the rehabilitation colonies, completed the construction of a high-level bridge on Rajiv Road at a fast pace and filled 20 TMC of water up to 148 metres of FRL in Yellampally reservoir. Harish Rao said that It was an achievement of their government.
He said the BRS government spent Rs 2,052 crore on land acquisition, rehabilitation, construction of high-level bridges and roads. He also said the barrage had been put to full use and added that the work of providing water to all the areas dependent on the reservoir started only after the Yellampally project was converted into a crucial ‘balancing reservoir’ in the Kaleswaram project.
Rao said though Ponnam Prabhakar did not realise the fact that all this happened only after the formation of Telangana, he made it clear that the farmers of Karimnagar were aware of it.
