Hyderabad, March 3 (RAHNUMA): The Telangana unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for projecting Rahul Gandhi as the country’s next Prime Minister.
BJP State Chief Spokesperson and Media In-Charge N.V. Subash, in a press release, questioned the basis of the Chief Minister’s remarks. “Where exactly is the Prime Minister’s chair vacant?” he asked, asserting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi enjoys strong public support and that the post would not be vacant “for the next two decades, till 2047.”
Subash alleged that the Congress was attempting to divert attention from the non-implementation of election guarantees in Telangana by making “exaggerated political claims.” With only 17 Lok Sabha seats in the state, he said, such declarations reflected “political daydreaming rather than ground reality.”
The BJP leader pointed to alleged internal dissensions within the Congress, drawing comparisons with political developments in Karnataka. He questioned Rahul Gandhi’s leadership credentials and termed the projection for the top post premature.
Turning to civic issues, the BJP opposed the reported move to restructure the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), alleging it would create administrative confusion in property registration, tax payments and delivery of civic services. The party demanded transparency in the utilization of Central funds reportedly amounting to Rs.650 crore for civic bodies and sought clarity on the Congress’ promise of Rs.2 crore per municipal division.
Expressing confidence ahead of the GHMC elections, the BJP leader predicted significant gains in the upcoming civic and 2028 Assembly polls.
