Police holds coordination meeting with pvt security agencies

Hyderabad, Nov.13 (NSS): A coordination meeting was held today by SB DCP Sai Sri at Cyberabad CP office. The meeting was attended by representatives from 145 private security agencies. The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen security protocols and improve coordination between private security agencies and the police to enhance public safety within Cyberabad limits.

DCP SB Sai Sri said the important role that private security agencies play in supporting the police’s efforts to prevent crime and protect the community. DCP said the need for strict compliance with the Private Security Agencies (Regulation) Act (PSARA), 2005, to maintain high standards of professionalism and lawful operations.

Key points of discussion and compliance guidelines are: All private security agencies must possess a valid PSARA license issued by the Director General of Intelligence, Telangana, to operate legally within the state; Security personnel are strictly instructed from not to wear uniforms that resemble those of the police, military, or paramilitary forces to avoid any potential misuse or public confusion; Agencies are required to maintain comprehensive records of their personnel, clients, and operations. It is mandatory for all security guards to carry official photo identity cards at all times, ensuring easy verification by law enforcement; All security personnel are required to complete a 160-hour training program at recognized institutes to ensure they are well-prepared for their duties. The training focuses on enhancing their skills to handle various security challenges.

Currently, there are 355 licensed private security agencies operating within the jurisdiction of Cyberabad, with all personnel deployed in unarmed roles. The Cyberabad Police urged these agencies to promptly report any criminal incidents they encounter to enable swift action by the authorities.

ADCP CSW Srinivas Rao provided an overview of the Cyberabad Commissionerate’s jurisdiction, which spans 3,644 square km covering both urban and rural areas of Ranga Reddy, Medchal, Sangareddy, and Hyderabad districts. This jurisdiction is managed through five Law & Order Zones, 42 Police Stations, 16 Traffic Police Stations, and along with specialized units such as the Special Branch, CCS, SOT, Women & Child Safety Wing, and Economic Offenses Wing. The meeting was attended by Hyderabad CSW ADCP Giriraju, representatives from various security agencies and other officials.
