Ponnam assures justice for Musi flood victims

Hyderabad, Sept.21 (NSS)Minister for Transport Ponnam Prabhakar has assured that justice will be done to those families who are being affected due to the Musi modernisation works.

The Minister urged the people not to panic over the Musi modernisation works and all should cooperate with the State government.

Ponnam Prabhakar, who is also an in-charge Minister of Hyderabad district, inspected a vacant 2BHK housing project site at the 284 double-bedroom unit complex in Chanchalguda, here on Saturday.

The local MLA, Ahmed bin Abdullah Balala, Principal Secretary ( urban development) Dan Kishore, GHMC Commissioner Amrapali, Hyderabad District Collector  Anudeep Durishetty and other senior officials accompanied the Minister.

Speaking on the occasion, Ponnam Prabhakar highlighted Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s significant efforts to transform the banks of the Musi River into a tourism hub, enhancing Hyderabad’s global image.

During the inspection, he reiterated the State government’s commitment to support those who lost their homes due to Musi river development and stated that once the double-bedroom houses are completed, the vacant units will be allocated to the flood victims.

GHMC Commissioner Amrapali said out of 284 houses that have been constructed, 142 have been distributed, with 142 remaining vacant.

Later, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar visited the double-bedroom houses at Vanasthalipuram, where approximately 90 homes are still unoccupied. He reassured the people that justice will be done for Musi river victims and urged everyone not to worry over the developments.

“The State government is planning to distribute homes to 3,500 individuals under the Indiramma Housing Scheme. Additionally, Rs 2,005 crores have been allocated for supplying the Godavari water to twin reservoirs, ensuring clean river flow and promoting tourism development, thus enhancing Hyderabad’s reputation worldwide,” he added.
