Praveen Kumar accuses the Congress Govt of neglecting education sector

Hyderabad, May 21 (INN): BRS leader RS Praveen Kumar has strongly criticised the Congress government, accusing it of neglecting the education sector, particularly in relation to scholarships for poor children studying abroad.

In a post on the micro-blogging site ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), Praveen Kumar asserted that the previous BRS government had facilitated the education of many underprivileged children overseas. He lamented that educational support has been abandoned under the current Congress administration. To highlight his point, he shared a letter from a concerned father, which he said exemplifies the neglect faced by the education system under Congress rule.

The letter detailed the plight of a father whose children, Lavanya, Harika, and Prashant, were sent to the US for undergraduate studies through the Social Welfare Residential Society. Despite financial hardships, the society had promised $6,000 per semester and had funded the first three semesters. However, the fees for the fourth and fifth semesters remain unpaid. The father described their six-month struggle to secure the promised funds, with no substantial response from officials, including the Secretary of the society and the Principal Secretary.

“Our children’s future is at stake,” the father wrote, explaining that multiple attempts to contact and meet officials have been in vain, with excuses ranging from election periods to administrative delays.

Praveen Kumar questioned whether only the children of Congress leaders should have the opportunity to study abroad, urging immediate action to provide the necessary funds to prevent ruining the future of underprivileged students. (INN)
