Hyderabad, Oct.21 (NSS): The State government organized a commemoration programme for police martyrs at Goshamahal Police Stadium today. DGP Jitender also invited retired IPS officers and senior IPS officers for the event.
Former IPS officer RS Praveen Kumar also received invitation from the government to attend the event. But, he was placed under house arrest by the police on Sunday night. Responding on the issue, Praveen Kumar asked the DGP if this was the right method to place him under the house arrest after extending the invitation? “Don’t I even deserve to pay homage to the police brothers, who lost their lives in the line of duty? Am I a terrorist,” he asked. He asked CM Revanth Reddy as to why he was afraid of the BRS party leaders?
Meanwhile, former Minister and Siddipet MLA Harish Rao lashed out at the Telangana police for their action against RS Praveen Kumar. “Praveen Kumar has been invited to attend the commemoration ceremony of the police martyrs at Goshamahal Stadium. How can the State government make his house arrest again after extending the invitation,” he asked.
Harish Rao said it was shameful that a retired IPS officer was insulted on the day of the Police Martyrs’ Day. He said it was a misadventure to impose restrictions at every step of the way and rule the detention regime.
